Choosing a Venue to hold your classes
It is very important to choose the right venue for your classes. Taking into consideration, the brand, the age group, the location, the access and times available. Below are some points to consider when choosing. It is also important to remember to display marketing material at the venue along with leaflets-be noticed!
Make sure when booking a double slot you leave enough time for change over, about 10 minutes is long enough. Some venues will charge for the set up time where as others will only charge you for the time of class, to avoid unnecessary charges please set up and tidy away in the time you have arranged. Classes are kept to 45 minutes as a rule to also allow for this.
Sole exclusivity
As completion grows in the industry around us, it is becoming more common for competitors to use the same venues which you find. Good business practice welcomes competition, but direct competition (a business that would do baby/toddler/children’s yoga or massage) using the same venue could have an effect on your business. A question to ask when sourcing new venues is to check if you can have exclusive use so no direct competitors could come and start the same type of classes in the venue you are using.
Environment
Make sure the room is not too hot but not too cold, well ventilated, light but with the ability to dim the light for relaxation. It should be clutter free and clean with clear signs for emergency exits (make sure parents are aware of the exits in case of emergency) also preferable with changing facilities. It should have covered electric sockets and the furniture should not be stacked too high. You should ensure you have adequate space to perform a class and set as required for each session.
Choose a venue with easily accessible car parking facilities, and disabled access. Check whether the venue has stairs. Make sure the venue you choose is not a postcode that has been franchised by another teacher in your area before any time or money is spent on promotion. Ensure there is space prams or car seats or that they can be left securely as most parents arrive with these.
Before teaching any Yoga class in a school or nursery settings, you must get written permission from the nursery/school head teacher, staff and parent/carers for them or their baby/children taking part in the class. This should include health/disabilities/SEN needs. You should be made aware of their safeguarding policies, procedure in event of fire and any other policies relevant.
Often a nursery or school will ask for a Method Statement as well as your other documents as well as policies and procedures. A method statement shows what the overall objective is and what you are going to put in place to deliver it. It also highlights who is responsible for what areas and keeps health and safety standards high.
Vehicles
There are no requirements with regards to a company vehicle other than ensuring your vehicle is correctly insured for business use and is kept clean and well maintained.
If you want to get a vehicle sign written in the business name please speak to Head Office for guidance.
