Vinyasas

A big difference from Juniors to Minds is the use of Vinyasas. These are yoga flows, using the asanas in a set order and transitioning between them smoothly. This should not be confused with Vinyasa Yoga as a style of yoga, we are still teaching Hatha yoga where the goal is to calm and still the bosy and mind, whereas Vinyasa yoga as a different style of practice is faster and repeats the sequences a number of times to raise the heart and breathing rate.
Vinyasas can be used in a number of ways in class:
- Use a vinyasa once through and focus on each asana and pranayama throughout, making the transitions smooth
- Repeating a simple vinyasa a couple of times through to arm up / cool down
- Using them as the main activity where the students put the asanas in an order that works for a vinyasa flow
- Getting the students to build their own vinyasa flow
See the lesson plans for more information on this.
