Structure of Classes
Classes follow the same basic structure as Juniors. There is an introduction, breathing and warm up, then the main content of the class and it finishes with relaxation.
Classes are now one hour as standard. Obviously this is flexible to the needs of whoever is booking you or if you want to run shorter private sessions, or longer workshops, however a normal class should be this long to cover the content in enough detail. It also allows for a longer relaxation which should be covered now with this age group.
We no longer cover themes in the same way as Juniors as we want to move them more towards an adult style class, although we still have lots of fun (which might not be quite like an adult class!)
There is the addition of:
- Vinyasa yoga flows, concentrating on how to move from one asana to another and the use of the breath in this.
- ‘Mat Chat’ – in most sessions there will be an element of talking through what you are doing in the session (more so than with Juniors) and maybe writing or creating to consolidate the learning. This is also great content for social media – especially your LinkedIn profile!
- The use of mantras (sounds, words and sayings chanted) and mudras (hand gestures).
All of this is covered in the manual and training.
