Introduction to Kalma Mamas Classes

This training will allow you the privilege to work with mothers to be at this really exciting time in their lives. The idea of KalmaMamas is to give them a safe and restful space to completely relax, forget about all their worries, ensure they remain healthy throughout their pregnancy in a safe way and engage completely with their unborn child allowing them opportunity and showing them techniques to bond.

The primary focus of a pre and post natal relaxation teacher is to support and enhance the pre-natal and post natal experience. As a teacher you need to ensure students are taught valuable and effective tools to enhance the well being, and have a happy and healthy pregnancy.  We have a duty to provide a safe and effective yoga and relaxation practice which will prep students for birthing and which will equip them with tools to help their body and mind recover after birth also.  Where students feel challenged by their body constantly changing adaption in the support which is given inside of your classes.  Our Pre natal classes are meant to support the changes physically and emotional the student goes throwing during pregnancy.  The same can be said for post natal classes. As teachers we are there to deliver the classes to support, guidance and enhance the pre and postnatal experience. All whilst providing a safe and effective practice of pre and post natal practice.

There are conditions in which as teachers we would tell a student to seek medical advice these would be;

Bleeding from the vagina

Symptoms of pre eclampsia

Symptoms of itchiness and tingling which is extreme accompanied by

Sickness and loss of appetite and fatigue as it could be cholestasis which is a

severe liver condition.

Nosebleeds and Nasal stiffness if persistent and cause for concern for the student

Hypertension and high blood pressure

Diabetes

Oedema severely

Morning sickness severely

If a student came to you as a teacher with anything they were particularly concerned about in pregnancy we would always suggest they seek medical advice or see their midwives. We would never diagnose anyone and always use knowledge as general guidance, ensuring students have got medical consent or at least informed doctors or midwifes of their yoga practice.
