How to run classes

Unlike the baby classes, which will mostly run weekly during school hours and during term time, there is more scope to run the junior classes to suit you.  The main two revenue streams in Juniors are schools and nurseries and private classes. Within schools you can offer sessions in school time or after school clubs.  Schools are a huge market and learning about those in your area quickly and making contact will help.  Start by using local council websites gathering emails for them and sending out an email to show what you offer.  Always follow up with a call, then go in to the school.  There is no one who can sell the sessions as you can!  You should find out who the local PE coordinator is and set up a meeting with them.  Offering service for PPA cover and lunch time activities.  Get involved with school health initiatives find out what they are, sports days and even school parties or fetes, or fayres.  Ask your schools about cluster meetings as most schools are part of groups with others.

Your local beaver, cubs, scouts, brownies and guide groups are also a fabulous place to source and offer services to.  Along with any local SEN schools or groups.  Your local pre school educational school nurseries are good scope to start pre school classes, make your life easier!  It initially maybe time consuming to source all of this but long term it pays off.

Privately, you could run a weekly class during school time for pre-schoolers up to 5 (remember this will be a limited market of parents off work on the day you run) or for school age after school or at weekends, monthly classes or even just seasonal such as Christmas, Easter, summer, Halloween, new year etc. You could even run them as camps within school holidays and make the class longer with a break in the middle or add in extras such as a craft to take home which can become part of relaxation and centring children towards the end of the session. (make sure you are following up to date Ofsted guidelines about this as over a certain number of hours you are classed as a child minder.)
