Disability Discrimination Act Policy
Kalma Baby treats all children fairly and those that are disabled we must make reasonable adjustments to suit. As teachers we must ensure that venues have reasonable disabled access in and out and rooms have adequate spaces, particularly when teaching older children. In classes you must ensure you have all information prior regarding the child’s disability to ensure provisions are put into place. In all cases parents must seek medical advice before starting if they are unsure of anything. Early years providers have a duty not to discriminate against disabled children in both education and day care provision. They must not treat disabled less favourably and must make reasonable adjustments to avoid putting disabled children at a substantial disadvantage compared to children who are not disabled. The same policy applies to other adults.
