Do Your Research

The first thing you need to do is research the schools in your area. The best way to do this is through the Government website that holds all the OFSTED inspection reports: https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/ Here you can search by postcode and narrow it to primaries, secondaries, nurseries etc.

This will give you a full list of what is in your area, but it also gives good information about where the school is currently at. Have a look at their points for improvement. Is there anything you could help with?  Look at ways in which you can bring yoga and mindfulness to the school which improve or support it.

A good way to keep track of everything is to print this list and annotate it with a key so you know:

who you have emailed

who’s been visited

when you followed up this can be email, call or another a visit

After you have done a taster session

When got a booking from the, or if not reasons why its always important to ask for feedback!

You could make up a table to help keep track of this or a simple note book using a page per school including dates you’ve completed the above.

If the list isn’t too big, aim to market to all of them. You never know who might have some budget at the time for sessions. If it really isn’t manageable, decide if you want to target a specific area to start with.  This could be postcode by postcode.

External contacts

Always post in your group and find out if any of your parents from classes have links to local schools. Could they get you an introduction? Do they have children at any of them and you could therefore say that parents have shown an interest?  Use the reward scheme we have to promote this.

At this time its always important to look at any other external contacts who work with or have contact with schools.  School Sports Partnerships or local charities, a mental health champion for the area or Change4life groups.  Find out who they are via google!  Contact them tell them what you can do an get a meeting penciled in  Even if they are working with other companies its still worth a meet up we could offer something different!
